King Saul had become very jealous of David, to such an extent that on several occasions he tried to kill him. David had to flee from place to place, seeking safety.
Lesson 2: David spares Saul
Readings: 1 Samuel 24: 1-22
One day Saul heard that David was hiding, in a part of the country where there were many rocks and caves. He took 3,000 of his best soldiers and started searching for him. David and his men hid far back in a cave. It so happened that Saul came into that cave, not knowing that the man he was looking for was there!
Lesson 3: David becomes King
Readings: 1 Samuel 31: 1-6, 2 Samuel 5: 1-5
King Saul and his men were at war with neighbouring people.
Lesson 4: David and Mephibosheth
Readings: 2 Samuel 9: 1-13
Mephibosheth was the son of Jonathan and the grandson of King Saul. He was just five years old when both his father and his grandfather died in the battle with the Philistines.
