Lesson 1: Elijah obeys God

Readings: 1 Kings 17: 1-7

Elijah lived when there was a very wicked king in Israel. The king’s name was Ahab. The queen, who was called Jezebel, was also very wicked.

Lesson 2: Elijah trusts God

Readings: 1 Kings 17: 8-16

When the stream dried up, God sent Elijah to a widow. She would look after him. When he arrived, he found that she and her son were very short of food. It was the same everywhere. The crops had failed because there was no rain.

Lesson 3: Elijah serves God

Readings: 1 Kings 18: 1-2, 16-46

For more than three years there was no rain. Everything dried up, and even the animals were dying.

Lesson 4: Elijah hears God

Readings: 1 Kings 19: 1-16

Queen Jezebel, Ahab’s wife, really hated Elijah. She said that she would have him killed within a day!
