Lesson 1: God’s Punishment

Readings: 1 Kings 16: 29-33; 17: 1-7

In these verses, we are introduced to Ahab, the seventh king of Israel, who reigned for 22 years. He was Israel’s most wicked king ever!

Lesson 2: God’s Provision

Readings: 1 Kings 17: 7-24

The land was now in the grip of the drought which Elijah had announced. Famine was sure to follow! As the days and weeks passed, Elijah’s brook finally dried up. God had directed him to this quiet, desolate spot in the first place, and had fed him in a miraculous way. Now Elijah waited for God to tell him what to do next. The Lord did not let Elijah down!

Lesson 3: God’s Power

Readings: 1 Kings 18: 1-46

After many months Elijah was told by the Lord that the drought was about to end and he was instructed to present himself again to King Ahab.

Lesson 4: God’s Presence

Readings: 1 Kings 19: 1-18

Elijah’s victory on Mount Carmel had put him in great danger. When the wicked Queen Jezebel heard from her husband, King Ahab, what had happened, she sent a message to the prophet Elijah.
