C9 Elijah

Lesson 1: Elijah obeys God

Readings: 1 Kings 17: 1-7

In the days of Elijah, the people of Israel had a very wicked king. His name was Ahab. Indeed, he was the most wicked king the Israelites had ever had. His wife, Jezebel, was just as bad as he was! God was very displeased with all the evil things that were happening.

Lesson 2: Elijah trusts God

Readings: 1 Kings 17: 8-24

When the brook dried up, God sent Elijah away to a city called Zarephath. God had told a widow who lived there to look after him.

Lesson 3: Elijah serves God

Readings: 1 Kings 18: 1-2, 16-46

For more than three years there was no rain. No crops grew, and even the grass withered. Animals were dying.

Lesson 4: Elijah hears God

Readings: 1 Kings 19: 1-16

Ahab’s wife, Queen Jezebel, flew into a rage when she heard what had happened at Mount Carmel (Story 3). She was especially angry when she heard about Elijah ordering all Baal’s prophets to be executed! She sent a messenger to Elijah to tell him that she would have him killed before the end of the next day.
